Allocation of Honorary Membership

1. Criteria for Awards

The following considerations are relevant to the handling of honorary membership awards to individuals:

1.1 Membership of the Kouga Business Forum for a continuous period of at least five years.

1.2 Significant and continuous contributions related to the following:

  • Leadership within the Business Forum and/or the community in the Kouga
  • Successful establishment and/or development of a trend-setting business in the Kouga
    Economic and/or social upliftment, development or empowering of the community in the Kouga

2. Procedure to be followed

2.1 A written proposal and motivation with reference to the criteria in paragraph 1, should be submitted by a member of the Business Forum with the Chairperson or Manager of the Forum. The proposal should be supported in writing, by at least one further member.

2.2 The proposal is submitted to a regular meeting of the Forum’s Management Committee and should be approved by a two-thirds majority of all members of the Management Committee of the Forum. The decision of the Management Committee is final and no reasons need be given for the possible disapproval of the application. Unsuccessful applications may not be repeated within a period of two years.

2.3 Allocations of honorary membership is in the form of an address and/or other applicable proof, are issued at the annual awards function of the Kouga Business Forum to successful candidates.
